Marlowe Condos Metrorail Madness: Best Destinations & Activities on the Line
The city of Houston introduced the Metrorail concept in 1983 to a less than warm reception. Local citizens did not see the need for a rail system at the time in the city. Despite financial roadblocks, the rail plans persisted and, thanks to donations, construction of the initial rail line began in 2001. Would you believe that the original rail line (which opened in 2004) only started with 7.5 miles? Today, we have three separate lines (red, green, and purple), 23.8 miles of track, and more than 40 stops on the rail. The best part: you can easily reach tons of destinations from your downtown Houston condo.
Main Street, Houston, TX
After leaving your downtown condos, make a first stop at nearby University of Houston Downtown. There, you will find the O’Kane Gallery featuring the work of local artist Ammar Alobaidi. Known for channeling art world greats Kandinsky and Mondrian, it will be a pensive start to your adventure. On Main Street near Midtown, you’ll find an unassuming collection of bars and restaurants. Stop by Tacos a Go-go for a Migas plate then duck into Double Trouble for a killer flat white. Next, visit the Continental Club for Glover Gill every Monday night. Pro-tip: you’re also walking distance from the new Midtown Arts and Theatre Center of Houston (MATCH).
Special Events on the Line
Special events in Houston take place every day, so it is no surprise that many of these are reachable by Metrorail. Ongoing until April 30th, Texas Southern University is hosting the “Gridiron Glory: The Best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame” exhibit. 6,000 sq. ft. of football history of more than 200 artifacts, relics, and items is available from 10 AM to 8 PM Monday through Saturday. Though the HQ is located near your Marlowe downtown Houston condo, 8th Wonder Brewing is hosting a special event near the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. This first-time event pairs homegrown Houston beers with delicious creations from Masterchef winner, Luca Manfé. Major thanks to the Italian Cultural and Community Center not only for hosting the event, but sponsoring it! You can also stop by local destinations Little Big’s for decadent milkshakes and Grand Prize Bar across from Bell Park.
Many Houston condominiums boast many things, but only the Marlowe downtown Houston condos have walkability, luxury, 24/7 concierge services: the works. Enjoying the city of Houston and Metrorail is easier than ever before! Of course, you could just go across the street to House of Blues for Beer N Beats or to MKT Bar for Vinyl & Vino. As a Marlowe man and downtown Houston resident, the choices are yours and the possibilities are endless.
